Our previous blog entry focused more on earthbagging technique. This blog entry just shows the progress of our earthbag structure.
Digging the Foundation
Make sure to get the bottom of your foundation trench perfectly level.
Filling the Foundation with Gravel Bags
2 rows above grade are also filled with gravel rather than earth and act as a stemwall for drainage and strength to support the rest of the wall above.
Tip: Try to get roughly similar sized gravel between 1 – 2 inches.
The Walls Go Up
Note the blue PVC pipe sticking out. With no windows, good ventilation is necessary to prevent mold.
The walls are now over head height. We will continue to update once we reach our plastering stage after the roof is built.
